Lesson 013 , Transceiver Construction Tips

Hey Gang,

It's time to start thinking about the next part of the MP20 build, the TRANCEIVER.  One item you will need right away is a 16 bit PC ISA Socket a 16 bit surplus ISA card.  These should be readily available. We may need some volunteers to obtain and butcher some old 386 or 486 mother boards to secure some 16 bit ISA sockets.  Old surplus ISA cards are generally available at about a dollar each at ham fest and flea markets.  Again, we need volunteers to help those that don't have access to these parts.

Here are some pictures of a socket, a BLANK MP20 band module and a 160 meter band module.

You may discover all sorts of ways to mount the socket.  I will use double stick tape and mount the socket on it's side on a copper board; then solder all the contacts on the LOWER row to the copper board.

HOW ABOUT IT YOU SCROUNGERS... LET'S FIND SOME SURPLUS PC ISA STUFF AND SUPPLY THOSE IN NEED.
